“Abu Dhabi CAS” Launches Sports Training Programme

The Abu Dhabi CAS Alternative Hearing Centre, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy of the Judicial Department, offered a five-week training programme titled "The Sports Industry in Light of National and International Legislation." The programme me 's objective was to give participants a comprehensive understanding of the local and international legal frameworks pertaining to sports.
The programme me comes in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, vice president of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, to apply the best international practices in academic and practical training, consolidating sports-related legal knowledge, and keeping up with the most recent advancements in compliance with the highest international standards.
The programme demonstrates the Department's dedication to advancing the goals of the National Sports Strategy and the growth of the sports industry in the United Arab Emirates, as they see these sectors as critical to the creation of an integrated society This programme is an extension of the Department's efforts to create a comprehensive plan that fosters sustainable development in this area and paves the way for a prosperous sports future that upholds the competitiveness of the emirate.
In addition to preparing legal cadres of attorneys, legal researchers, and sports devotees to handle cases and lawsuits pertaining to the sports field, the training programme seeks to promote sports legal culture and provide them with up-to-date information on sports court procedures, regulatory laws, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
Additionally, it seeks to establish a framework for overseeing the sports process and to foster an environment that is both encouraging and stimulating for the sports industry. All of these goals are intended to help the sports sector fulfill the mandate of Federal Law No. 4 of 2024 by equipping participants with the skills they need to improve ethical governance, engage in national sports industry policies, and promote innovation, sustainability, and development in this crucial area.
In addition, the programme covers the national and international constitutional frameworks that regulate the sports industry. Its objectives are to investigate and analyze these frameworks, with a particular emphasis on how they impact legislation, regulation, and the maintenance of a balance between national sovereignty and sports independence. Additionally, the programme aims to foster mutual understanding among stakeholders by examining various constitutional approaches and exchanging best practices that support policy development, player rights protection, and justice and transparency at all levels.
Along with addressing the role of culture and sports diplomacy in bolstering national economies, the programme aims to improve participants' abilities to use soft power and sports diplomacy as strategic tools to support national economies. It does this by emphasizing the ways in which these tools can be used to improve a nation's international standing, forge stronger bilateral and multilateral relationships, boost investment, tourism, and cultural exchanges, as well as to share knowledge and insights amongst participants in the fields of foreign policy, economics, and sports. All of these goals contribute to achieving sustainable economic growth.
